PRESIDENT Bush was yesterday taped privately telling Tony Blair that Syria should tell Hizbollah to "stop doing this sh*t" to resolve the Lebanon crisis, in a blunder that was broadcast round the world.

Standing at the president's shoulder like a trusted counsellor, Mr Blair was heard over a live microphone dutifully offering his help to ease tensions.

In a move which will enrage the Arab world the two men also mocked Syrian leader Bashar Assad as a "honey" and "sweet" before Mr Blair suddenly spotted the microphone.

Covering it with his hand, he said "Is this...this isn't live, is it?" The two leaders immediately stopped talking and the unprecedented glimpse into the world of power politics ended.
