18. Some of us ALREADY don't respect the rule of law!
I probably break some stupid law every day.
Some of them quite consciously and purposely.
For instance, who has the right to tell me what mild intoxicant I'm "allowed" to enjoy in the privacy of my own home?
Sorry, but I've NEVER respected the rule of law!
From where I sit, it's mostly a sledgehammer used to get me to shut the fuck up and buy more cheap plastic crap and pharmaceutical poisons that I don't need.
A quaint notion, the rule of law!
Destined to end up in the trash heap of history, along with lots of other ideas that we as a species have tried and screwed up.

HOWEVER -

I do, with every conscious breath that I take make an attempt to DO THE RIGHT THING. Always and forever. I try (and sometimes fail) to follow the Golden Rule, be nice to old people and puppies, and leave the place in better shape than I found it. I live as low-impact a life as I can, with as little waste as possible. I try to be nice to people in most situations, but my brutal honesty can be viewed as harshness. If something makes sense to me, if it's the law, I'll respect it because it's the right thing. If it doesn't make sense to me, I have no hesitation whatsoever to say "fuck this!"

Now I know that some will say that this is exactly what our "political enemies" do, but it's not. They insist on one set of standards for themselves and another set of standards for everyone else. That's why they're such assholes, and there are a few "laws" I'd like to break to put them in their place...
