143. Was I ever around for Watergate...
and the situation was not quite the same as it is now. Back then the population was far more engaged over the three converging tides of Viet Nam, Civil Rights, and the environment than it is now, and the crooks were not nearly as sophisticated as these are now.

And we're not as stoned as we were then, either. Nor do we have any charismatic leaders on our side. Ther are no successfuil appeals to Moral Authority as there were against the war or segregation back then.

Makes this one a far more difficult mess to clean up.
