3. Good piece. It bothers me that the Congress seems so willing to
accept the Bush Administration's framing of the argument, accepting the idea of troops sitting out the middle of the desert with no supplies because Congress wouldn't fund the occupation.

The fact is that if Bush gets no money, it his duty as Commander in Chief to get the troops out of there. He cannot hold them hostage. It's like he's holding a gun to their heads and saying, "gimmee everything I want or these fellas is gonna die!".
