As an attorney you cannot file a medical malpractice suit until you have first had the potential claim reviewed by a medical expert in the same specialty and that expert is willing to sign an affidavit that the standard of care was violated and led to the injury.
And Edwards is right, the heavily financed propaganda that lawsuits are driving up healthcare costs is totally disingenuous --even under the most broad reading of statistics they would account for no more than 1% of healthcare costs, and included in that amount are the 'legitimate claims of those injured due to medical mistakes.'
