I grew up Catholic in a socially conservative area. A lot of people at my church voted Republican for one reason and one reason only: abortion. However, when it came to other issues of policy, such as economic issues, they did not toe the corporatist Republican line.

If Republicans nominate a candidate like Rudy who favors abortion rights, look to see a lot of the single issue voters on abortion either abstain or maybe even contemplating voting Democrat.
