87. Agreed he will not shy away from action, BUT:
What he might consider his best chance to get something accomplished,
and what we might consider his best chance to get something accomplished
(like running and winning) might be two different things. I still fear he
might see his best chance of serving the nation as not getting involved
in an already fractious campaign fight, and necessarily pissing off people
he would need to win an election campaign.

But who knows? I only met the guy once, and though it was for a long chat,
most of it was about his getting re-elected as Vice-President, so you know
how long ago THAT was!

The only thing I am relatively sure of, is that he is keeping a close eye on
things, and if for any reason Hillary should stumble badly, the rest of them
might as well fold their campaigns now to save time and money. Some will cry
that Gore is just being an opportunist, but most will see that he has decided
that it is his duty to run. By the same token, I think that if he sees his entry
into the race at this late point making a bad situation worse, he will see it as
his duty to stay out of it.
