7. cheney seems to have no limits or inhibitions in keeping power
If someone can't be bought or blackmailed, they can be threatened. If they don't fear for themselves, there is family. If they are brave enough to not succumb to threats against family, there are MILLIONS of other people that could be threatened if they don't comply.

Observing from a distance, I have no doubt cheney would do anything it takes to get what he wants. They actually know the man. Seems likely they don't have many delusions that he is a nice guy who works within rule of law.
