16. I've never felt the need to pose as a Canadian
What's wrong with being an anti-Bush American? If you're really nervous (and I don't think there's any need to be) where a button that says "Bush" with the name crossed out as on a traffic sign.

I've made two trips to the UK in the past two years, and everyone has been polite and friendly. I came down to breakfast at a B&B in Exeter, and the owner was talking to a couple from New Zealand, all of them expressing their disgust with the U.S. government. They stopped short when they saw me walk in, but I just smiled and said, "Go right ahead. I agree with everything you're saying."

I've been traveling to Japan for thirty years, and it was only in 2004 that nearly every person I had a substantive discussion with asked whom I supported for president. When I said, "Kerry" they invariably nodded and smiled.
