When they say it's not about the oil, it's about the oil.

$100 a barrel oil means more for that in the ground in Texas and other locations...it's also a windfall for those playing the oil futures market. It's been quite a ride for these people over the past 6 years...starting with the Enron fleecing of California and now moving through Iraq to Iran.

The real problem with Saddam Hussein was he sat atop the second largest oil reserve and would flood the spot oil market to drive the price of oil down. He couldn't be bought or controlled (Raygun tried) and one of the biggest motives boooshie used about sanction violations was his abuse of the oil. Also how that oil would "easily" pay for his invasion. It was all calculated to take this oil out of production or strictly control who pumped it. The Kurds could be trusted, the Sunnis, not so much and definitely not the Shiites.

Now the focus is on Iran who also plays international wildcard on the oil market. Their large reserves are some of the few still not under the thumb of the large oil cartels and limiting or taking it out of production would just help push the spot price higher...thus more profits.

Again, when the spot price rises...so do all those ships that go along the production...the Saudis, the Kuwaitis and other Carlisle clients.
