And they believe that everything that comes out of his mouth is the word from on high. BushCo could tell the remaining backwash absolutely anything and they would believe it. Not only that, but they don't bother looking for causes to support other than those he tells them about. Proof: did your BIL care about global warming or even know what it was before his glorious leader got on TV and told him not to believe in it? I bet $1000 bucks the answer is no. He tells them what topics to care about and what to think about those topics, and the idiots do whatever he says.

Short Answer: They're Sheeple. It's not so much about stupid as it is about being a certain kind of follower personality. The kind of person who desperately needs to attach himself or herself to someone or something or an ideology they can worship, who needs to be told what to do, who feels desperately uncomfortable without some authority figure to listen to, and who gets really, really mad when they encounter others around them who actually want to think for themselves.
