I heard a Repugnican investor buddy chuckle about how he loves the rise in oil prices. Yes, it costs more to fuel that big boat of his, but he's also making it back on his stocks and commodities. He said "it goes from one pocket, back into the other". These are the ones who will flock to Rudy or Mittens and their so-called "fiscal responsibility". He pointed out that the "alternative" to these high prices would be rationing...and people would rather pay more to keep driving their cars than put up with not getting gas.
