Genetics accounts for 63% of the variance in body fat. In other words, there is an influential genetic component to obesity. I agree that it is becoming a bigger problem on a society-wide level, but I think it would be very difficult to - just by looking at someone - assess aspects of their personal lives and, consequently, determine whether or not they are deserving of your ire.

Poor people, especially here in the States, tend to be overweight. Junk food costs less, is easier, and is plentiful whereas healthier alternatives tend to be more expensive, require more time and energy to prepare, and tend not to even be sold in poorer neighborhoods (where you might just have a convenience store to do grocery shopping - not a supermarket).
