36. Outside of my chickens, which I see every day of the year,
the first bird spotted this morning was a robin.

And that indicates various things, if you go digging:

"Irish tradition holds that the wren symbolizes the old year, while the robin symbolizes the year to come."

In various other places, I'm told that the robin symbolizes spring, renewal, and self-nurturing by releasing old pain.

That all fits with what I'd like to see the new year bring. ;)
