Is McCain a "sacrificial Lamb"?

I've been wondering about this....

Most of the mainstream honestly believes that the Repubs can't win in November no matter who they put on the ballot....additionally, they are uncomfortable with Romney...scared SH$Tless of Huckabee and wouldn't touch Rudy with a 10-foot pole....so do they look better letting Grandpa McCain run and get his head beaten in by the Democrats? Face it...McCain is almost harmless to the Republican image whereas the others are associated with elements in the conservative movement that the RNC wants nothing to do with.

I'm tossing this out for discussion...

What do you think?
