They chose to picket funerals in the most offensive way possible, and they caused real hell for the families of those fallen soldiers.
Those families sued them for the emotional distress caused, and won. They're entitled to damages.
With any luck, Fred Phelps and his cult will be reduced to making protests from cardboard boxes...
