conservatives as essentially fearful people. The vast majority deal with their fear by voting for leaders who promise to prevent, or roll back, change, which they find terribly threatening. The leaders deal with their own fear by accumulating as much money and power as they can, to feel more secure. But it is never enough.

Fear is not a healthy or realistic orientation toward life, and so of course their perceptions are warped and their conclusions false.
