56. He's no hero

To FINALLY tell the truth, after truly countless lies?

If your kid lied to you for years, and at last told you the truth -- would you then look upon them as a "hero", would you be glad they finally admitted the truth and consider those lying years "heroic"?
Sure, you'd be glad s/he finally came clean; but HEROIC?!

Just because McClellan FINALLY did what he should have done all along does NOT give him "hero" status.
Is lying through your teeth (I don't buy for one second 'he didn't know') "heroic", even if finally admitting the truth?
Especially when, mind you, it is impossible to view what he said as anything BUT a pack of lies!
Now, it's just trying to weasel out.

Calling him a hero is insulting to true heroes.

Additionally, his half-hearted admittance now does not wash the blood of over a million Iraqis and Americans from his hands.

If he had stood up for the truth then, fine: Heroic

Although I'd still be hard pressed to put it in that category, telling the truth is not normally Heroic. Among true Heroes are those of the White Rose Society who were beheaded by the Nazis for daring to speak the truth

--does McClellan fall into that category? Even if he told the truth back then?

Now? No fucking way.

***EDIT: And most of those killed in The White Rose were barely out of their teenage years!
