that those sentiments are MUCH more pervasive than we'd like to believe.

While the Palin mobs are the core group (and the white supremists who weren't part of that mob), there are many people who are closet racists. Even worse are those who don't realize they ARE racist; they are extremely insecure and feel lost (sorry to say, in my experience this is often white males over 40...the world has shifted tremendously for them) -- and the Rush/Faux crowd feed into this fear and insecurity and make it much more about "us versus them."

This New Haven case is going to make this shit SO much worse. But, perhaps it needs to get much worse before it can finally heal. Like a boil that needs to burst wide open first before healing.

This is pervasive. At least in my experience.
