jobs have been in decline for some decades, but it sits in Montgomery County, the only county in the 2004 presidential race in Ohio that went blue, surrounded by a field of red counties in SW Ohio.

Wright-Patterson Airforce Base is there; the museum is very impressive. The public libraries are rich in Wright Brothers sources. The local pizza is very good also -- Vic Cassano's deluxe is not to be sneezed at. The art museum just across the Miami River is way better than anybody from someplace else could guess. The Wasson Piano School for years generated top-drawer pianists. The Forest Book Store, in its day, sold records from the early days of prime-composition rock and folk. There is some heart-stopping first-stand timber in the grounds near Yellow Springs, about 15 minutes away.
