"WHy is all the good stuff before 1900, and between 1900 and 1972, it's just 'this bureaucrat voted Republican'?"

"Wait... Reagan tax cuts? "Tear Down This Wall"? Contract On America? Fucking up Afghanistan and Iraq (and strangely omitting the first Gulf War)? School vouchers? These are achievements?"

Basically this reads out like "In the beginning, the Republican party was awesome. It accomplished a great many victories in civil liberties, social justice, and nationwide reform. As the years wore on, the party began to lose its drive and energy, until reaching a point of total inertia in the mid-70's. After that point the party has only gone downhill, and has had to spin its failures as achievements just to keep morale marginally boosted among the party loyal"
