3. The media is silent to real disasters
Edited on Tue May-11-10 08:03 AM by AllentownJake
They will acknowledge them when they have to and than move on.

You can tell a real disaster from a fake disaster by the amount of time the media spends on it.

For instance the media spent countless hours scaring the shit out of the populace on Swine Flu.

What was the coverage like about Katrina before it hit landfall in comparison? How about how often the reporters go down there to report on the re-construction efforts.

Iraq? Afghanistan?

Haiti, we don't hear too much of what is going on down there these days after the celebrity telethon. The problem was fixed by Justin Timberlake's singing of Haleujah and you downloading it on your Iphone!

Some people blame the populace for having a short attention span, it really isn't the case. The media wants these stories wrapped up quickly for the powers that be (the corporations that own and advertise on them) so that you go back to consuming and don't think about how inept your government actually is.

What will be the reporting on the Gulf be like, probably they will show brave BP workers cleaning up beaches in a photo shoot and not report the oil that is still there 3 years from now, because their masters want it that way and that is what they will get.

The devastation will not be reported, the government will not adequately respond, and we will have a telethon maybe. I hope Justin has a good cover to sing about Hope and healing ready to go for his close-up and Itunes download.

Now back to Dancing with the Stars!
