BP and company are apparently not equipped to fix their mess. I personally believe this is orders of magnitude worse than the worst estimate. These guys have done damage that will take decades to recover from. I have worked on systems at Idaho Falls where catastrophic or runaway failure sequences end in death. Those systems , naval reactors, are highly regulated, documented, and structured. Mechanisms are in place to deal with failures, even catastrophic ones. They did not engineer failure into their system. That is obvious.

In my opinion these guys are playing with a fucking pickup team, and in reactive mode. They are not ahead of the problem.

The US government MUST step up and bring in everyone. Woods Hole, Navy resources that can and do operate at that depth, and whomever is the best civilian operator in the world.

BP should be figuring out how they are going to pay for this giant catastrophic fuckup they created.

Please call your reps, this is cross isle and should they should support this being escalated.
