A few days ago Keithout O talked about Glen Beck's speech

and how he was so hypocritical and used the example of kids getting trophies just for being on a team and not playing in the game. He said the parents should throw the trophies in the garbage and tell their kids that they don't get to accept awards that they didn't earn. The hypocrisy part was the Beck accepted and honorary degree from the college right after the speech, (it was at Pat Robertson U).

What I keep thinking about is when he said the parents should trow the trophies away. I also remember a mass conservative email I received once
where they contrasted two ways of treating a child if they fell and scrapped their knee. It said liberal parents would coddle the child and the conservative parent would just tell the kid to get up and get over it.

Do you think that is where the hate in them is passed along generations? Sure many people grow up in abusive families and become loving and compassionate people, probably because they don't want their children to suffer like they did. But when the person wants to deny health care to poor children because it would cost money that their parents didn't "earn" they must have learned that lack of compassion somewhere.
