old to teach severe repercussions but they dont get it and doesnt work.

what it takes is connection, nurturing, respect, talking, listening, teaching so the CHILD makes the decision that HE doesnt want to light fire. time and effort. all they did was teach him to be sneakier with it not to be caught. not that he doesnt want to start fires anymore because of safety. the parents are the ones failing the child, for him to have gotten this far and chooses the cop to be the parent.

to actually build the foundation takes a lot of time and effort. it is also worth it as kids grow and make decisions themselves. makes those teenage years a hell of a lot easier on the parent
