13. Some of my ancestors came to Massachusetts in 1638

They were legal by English law, but I doubt that the native people considered my ancestors legal! Later, some of my ancestors help settle Alabama, again displacing people who had been in Alabama for centuries.

As my husband says, the U.S. stole our Southwest from Mexico fair and square--at the end of a gun barrel!
