WASHINGTON — Americans rate terrorism and the federal debt as the biggest threats to the future well-being of the USA, and they rate Republicans as better able to deal with both.
A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken Monday and Tuesday profiles the rockier terrain Democrats face compared with their clear advantage on issues in 2008 and 2006 — elections in which they scored major gains and won back control of the White House and Congress.

On today's agenda, Republicans have a 13-percentage-point advantage on handling terrorism, the No. 1 issue on voters' minds, and a 7-point edge on managing government red ink.

The Democratic Party's standing has sunk: 43% say they have a favorable view of the party, down from 55% in November 2008 and 57% in November 2006.

However, views of the Republican Party haven't significantly risen. The GOP is viewed favorably by 36%, 2 points higher than in November 2008 and 1 point higher than in November 2006.

Forty percent of those surveyed say the Republican Party is "too conservative;" 49% say the Democratic Party is "too liberal."

Now, this one pisses me off. Americans proving they have only short-term memory and that 'fear' still is the best way to control the masses!
