POTUS on the AZ Racial Profiling Bill

In short, the President will use this Arizona case as the rationale for why we need immigration reform. (Much in the same way the United insurance premium hike helped spark the final push on the BFD.)

President Obama said Friday that his administration is keeping an eye on the impact of legislation passed in Arizona that would allow police officers to arrest people suspected of living in the United States illegally.

Obama said he has asked members of his administration to “monitor the situation and examine the civil rights and implications of this legislation.”

“Our failure to act responsible at the federal level will only open the door to irresponsibility by others,” Obama said at a naturalization ceremony for service members. “That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona” that he said can undermine “trust between police and their communities.”
