I guess, more than anything else, I find the killing of bin-Laden sobering

and sort of a non-invent. I understand how if you knew people who were killed on September 11th or if you're a New Yorker or Washingtonian you might feel differently, but I didn't and I'm not.

It seems unlikely that this is a momentous event that will change things. What will it change? What real power had bin-Laden at this point? He was, by most accounts, a figurehead more than anything else at this point in time.

I'm not begrudging anyone feeling good about it. I just don't think it's nearly as meaningful as it's being portrayed- though certainly it's politically potent for the administration.
