Did Coburn opt out of the "Gang of Six" because of his entanglement in Ensign-gate?

Just wondering. It was rather an abrupt departure and the timing suggests that possibility.
Plus his stated reason was on the order of - "we had reached an impasse" - which seems kind of goofy given that the reason for the group was to break the impasse so how does him dropping out help do that?
