No need to throw out the 16 valve DOHC engine in your 1913 Peugeot to keep it running for occasional vintage races, exhibitions, and fun runs - yes, the basic architecture of the "modern" IC engine has been unchanged for nearly 100 years. Within 10 years, practically all new passenger cars will be plug-in hybrids. But, in the long run, EV and fuel cells are the way forward
