There are people in the WH telling him what they think he wants to hear. Like Plouffe last week telling everyone that the unemployment rate won't be serious factor in 2012, even if it stays close to 10%..
All the young people will magically come back, and everybody that believed he'd pull out of Iraq, close GITMO etc. All the Indies will change their mind etc when they see who the GOP candidate is and come running back. I'd feel a lot more hopeful if he'd pull some of those guys out at the next presser and point to them and say, "these guys are nuts and totally out of touch with the majority of people outside the beltway - you're all fired"
