I know you cannot judge a book by its cover, or a person, but he seemed like someone who could have been a great Afghan leader.

I remember just learning about Massoud just before he was killed. I had always suspected that the CIA did not want him around long. He was a little too popular. Another stupid idea by "military intelligence" NOT to support a respected Afghan leader who was willing to fight the Taliban, simply because he would not be under their total control, as the President Karzai is.
