140. More ALEC LINKS and new POST - Mother Jones: Michigan’s Mackinac Center/Heritage/ALEC Behind EFM Law
Just posted this on Kos (nobody cares about ALEC over there - it's turned into twitter with 247 vs. 147 characters I guess... sigh). Might spend more time here in DU using the serious old school ways.

Mother Jones: Michigan’s Mackinac Center/Heritage/ALEC Behind EFM Law (Stories and More)

JUST A CLIP:
This mess in Michigan and Wisconsin is just the tip of the iceberg of what is happening across the Country in a nationally coordinated effort to put in place dozens (if not hundreds) of bills and laws written by corporate interests (using ALEC) to close the door on not just labor, but completely takeover how America's laws at the State level, systematically state-by-state, are created and introduced.

In Michigan we had 39 bills, then 46 bills, now over 50+ bills in the system. Ask yourself: Where did all this come from?

More on the Mother Jones article and much more to the story with links to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)
IN THE ORIGINAL POST...

COUPLE TIPS:
Here are some basic instructions posted on March 12, 2011 by D.B.A. Press:"Quick and Dirty: Tracking ALEC ‘model legislation’ through real legislatures"

AND posted by another investigator find your states ALEC members using their own website (nice huh?):

Text Luckily, lazy technology makes this possible to an extent. On the ALEC website, they have a “Forgot Password” page, like most sites do. However, the process for resetting a password only requires an email address with no other information, and it gives immediate confirmation as to whether or not that email is registered in the system:

http://www.alec.org//AM/Template.cfm?Section=Login&Template=Security/NoPassword.cfm

Using this page, I was able to verify Rep. Jeff Fitzgerald’s membership in a few seconds using the email address on his state web page (Rep.Fitzgerald@legis.wisconsin.gov).

Open up the shades and let the sunshine in, before they figure out this loophole and close it.

Thank you DUers, for proving we, and the brave Prof at UofWI, were not crazy by working so hard on this ALEC story.

Keep pluggin' see some cracks forming (in MI at least, folks getting nervous).
