Tommy Thompson Resigns From Cabinet (like rats)
Edited on Fri Dec-03-04 12:17 PM by maddezmom
WASHINGTON - Health and Human Services (news - web sites) Secretary Tommy Thompson resigned Friday, the latest departure in a major reshuffling of President Bush (news - web sites)'s second-term Cabinet, The Associated Press has learned.

Thompson submitted his resignation to Bush, and planned to announce his departure at a Friday afternoon news conference, said an official close to the former Wisconsin governor who asked not to be identified.

edited to add update:

Mark McClellan, the government's Medicare chief and brother of White House press secretary Scott McClellan, is Thompson's likely successor, officials said.

Thompson's resignation brings to eight the number of members of Bush's 15-member Cabinet who have left.

2. Fellow Wisconsinites! We've been waiting for this! Prepare the barricades!
Make sure and guard the airports, and put up those checkpoints on I-94 and I-90!

We cannot let this miscreant back into the state!

He will most likely be shuffled off to a mega-salaried
corporate CEO position in an undisclosed location.

29. He's running for the Seante
Doubt that worm would have the image of a CEO. He said today about running for the Senate in '06, and I bet he does. He can't keep himself out of the limelight. Cheer up, at least he'll stay in DC, even if he IS Senator.

Still, it's best we don't let him in. This is Democrat country now.

Sorry, but he IS as popular, and could win a Senate seat. People carry on like he is a rock star. Why, I don't know. I feel sorry for Wisconsin. He could beat Kohl, but I don't think he will run again.

33. Kohl would beat him badly.
The only reason he did as well as he did is that we ran a bunch of lousy candidates against him. Ed Garvey and Chuck Chavala were hardly good candidates. If Doyle had run against him in 1998, he would have won, but it would have been a lot closer.

Sure, there is some nostalgia for Thompson among Repugs, but they would quickly remember the mess he left the state in.

Although Bush is so stupid that he might accidentally resign and not realize it until afterward.

5. I've nicked them the Bush Scapegoat All Stars
Bush HAS to purge his Cabinet. They were the ones who gave him so much bad advice. With a fresh supply of scapegoats--he can pretend that last admininistration never actually happened, that he's in charge, and that everything is all and shiny and new.

22. Rats upset
I've just spoken to my four rats (Hecate, Pallas, Isis and Nephysis) and they assure me that this behaviour is not rat-like at all. They are very upset. I've assured them it was nothing personnel. So, another one bites the dust - don't let the door hit your back as you shuffle off to "spend more time with your family."

28. Thompson will turn to advising terroists how best to attack the US.

Thompson Resigns From Bush's Cabinet
<snip> "For the life of me, I cannot understand why the terrorists have not attacked our food supply because it is so easy to do," Thompson said as announced his departure before department employees. "We are importing a lot of food from the Middle East, and it would be easy to tamper with that." <snip>

Tommy we don't need you back in WI. You did nothing for our state except inherit a wealthy state and got out right before the economy went down the tubes. Go in the private sector where you belong.
