Unprecedented Security for Inauguration
WASHINGTON -- Security officials for the first presidential inauguration since Sept. 11, 2001, are requiring every reporter, photographer and cameraman who works in and around the Capitol that day to be fingerprinted and undergo background checks.

The stringent security measures for the Jan. 20 event could affect several thousand media members. Those familiar with past inaugurations say that while security is always tight, this will be the first time the media will be photographed and fingerprinted to obtain the one-day IDs.

Congressional staffers who work in the Capitol will also be required to apply for special credentials for the day, although the procedure will be less rigorous because most receive background checks when they apply for their jobs.
...
Security is also likely to be very tight for the 200,000 expected to attend the 55th presidential inauguration and the hundreds of thousands who will line the parade route down Pennsylvania Ave. between the Capitol and the White House.

protect the most hated man in the world....maybe even the most hated man ever.

6. Pretty convenient to have fingerprints and background checks of
several thousand media members. The data will probably come in handy in the not-so-far future.

They should boycott that show altogether.

12. Pathetic note of where our "Free" society is
Interesting how a duly-elected president in a government "By the People" has to be protected by and from the same people.

It's all upside down. That's how divided we are. Crazy.

All I know is they better keep Bush safe cause if anything happens to him, he'll be fugging *Sainted* by the 'pukes.
Shoot, I was waiting for Ronny Reagan to rise from the dead, the way they were carrying on...

27. Definitely an indication of dysfunction.
Our country has become extremely dysfunctional the last four years.

We're not free,...we're afraid,...pathologically terrified.

We're not compassionate,...we're consumed with ourselves.

The state of our nation is pathetically pitiful.

23. Bush is most hated man in the world......
Of course his handlers are terrified! I expect total shut-down of city. Barricades, road-blocks, temporary fences, hovering helicopters and roaring jet fighters. Watch for armored vehicles and even tanks at major intersections. I expect we'll see a prelude to our future as "free" Americans. Sure they "hate our freedom"! No, it's just you they hate, Chicken George!

25. Come on guys, let's give the Bush Administration some credit...
Fingerprinting and background checks are definitely an improvement from retinal scans and forced loyalty oaths, don't ya think?

Maybe this Administration is finally learning how to relax!

28. GOOD! i hope they photograph BOB NOVAK, JUDY WOOF-WOOF, CRHIS MATTHEWS,
CANDY TRAWLEY, TUCKER CARLSON, etc., etc., etc. They might be getting the hint (albeit perhaps a bit too late) that they are witnesses to the official SPREAD of bush's dictatorial power grab.

HOW THE MAN CAN EVEN MOUTH THE WORDS THAT HE IS THE LEADER OF A DEMOCRACY IS BEYOND MY COMPREHENSION!
