97. I have no confidence in McCain. He should have called for Rumsfled's
firing outright. After he campaigned for Bush after what the BFEE did to him during the 2000 campaign, I was through with McCain. He has no principle.

Fuck McCain. I have no further use for him. He should've permanently given Bush the big fuck-off after they went after his wife and family during the 2000 campaign. No. Respect. For him. At. ALL.

48. I agree: STOP RELYING ON McCAIN!!!
I truly can't understand the infatuation some people on our side have with McCain. Many were expecting he would have some INTEGRITY left and abstained from supporting Bush in 2004 after he and Rove basically shat on him and his entire family.

Like the little whore that he is, he got on his knees and supported Bush publicly. To further humiliate himself, he joined the Bush campaign and endorsed Bush in every GOP rally and public speech.

He endorsed the man who said his wife was a whore and a crackhead in the 2000 Republican primaries. He endorsed Bush, the guy who said McCain had a "black love child" with a prostitute, in order to get the Southern racist white vote in South Carolina. McCain, time and time again, endorsed the man who smeared and libeled his name by claiming he was "brainwashed" by the Vietcong and that he was a loose cannon after being a POW in "Hanoi Hilton," even though Bush never cared to show up for duty in Alabama.

I ask you, once again: why do you keep relying on a conservative right-wing Republican to do us any favors? Have you seen his voting record (far right)? Have you seeing him hugging and endorsing Bush?

This is a guy with NO integrity left in the political arena. Start focusing on whichever leaders on our end of the spectrum we can count on (Dean, Barack Obama, etc...)

74. I think there is such hope for signs of integrity from the Repubs...
...that some people who should know better suspend disbelief and see what they believe is integrity in McCain. Since "the truth is on our side," if he has integrity, he would automatically be part of the solution to the terrifying threats this country faces internally and externally--right?

Oops. His record shows that, while perhaps he has moments of apparent integrity in speeches, he is solidly part of the problem. And as for courage, his stance with the Bush cartel after what they did to him and his family and to everything he says he stands for in the country, well, let's just say courage doesn't seem to be a prominent feature in his political career. Like another poster on this thread's Shakespearean quote, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

And I feel sure he voted for Bush. Clinging to the hope that in his heart of hearts he really supports Kerry is giving him too much credit, IMO. I wish we had an obvious Repub man of integrity we can turn to, but no matter how much we may wish for it, McCain isn't it.

129. Couldn't have put it better myself.
To this very day he's said nothing in defense of his wife and adopted daughter, except for some vague, wussy "they did the same thing to me in 2000" while the swifties were fricaseeing Kerry. That's the most I've ever heard from his sorry ass. If I were his wife and they'd done that to me, and he a) didn't make a big, fat, swolen, stinking, federal case about it or b) kept brown-nosing bush - and so disgracefully in public, no less, I wouldn't BE his wife anymore. It's clear whom he loves more, and it doesn't appear to be his wife and/or daughter...

It's gotta go farther, and deeper, than just the simplistic "they can't fire him because he's such a collosal fuck-up - they'd have to admit they were wrong, and they NEVER admit they were wrong" stuff.

I was thinking the other day about the "...keep your friends close and your enemies closer" effect. Makes ya wonder, doesn't it?

In essence, violating their space?

He puts his hand on McCain like a coach would his high-school aged athlete...

He puts his hand on the heads of bald, black men:

He wipes his glasses off on other peoples clothing:

This guy is all about subjecting others to ridicule by demeaning their station in life while at the same time demanding unquestioning respect for him...

Senator McCain will be 72 years old in 2008. Given thet the Bush people are probably looking to position Jeb for the ticket that year, I suspect we'll see John McCain retiring rather than running.

done a very good job of getting themselves heard in the news.

Granted, there's a huge right-wing media bias (despite Limbaugh's constant whining to the contrary--because they're all corporate owned), but still Dems have to come out with a consistent message and insist they get covered.

95. they can "insist" until they're blue in the face
a media that can turn a draft dodging drunken frat boy into some kind of war hero while turning a genuine war hero into a flip-flopping pointy headed geek - is a pretty powerful opponent...

They've even succeeded in getting Democrats to eat their own.

Witness the post like the one I replied to - it's a generic attack on the "Democratic leadership" - worthy of anything you'd find on freerepublic.

For the MSM and the corporate machine that controls them - mission accomplished.

113. But when Dems "insist:" the MSM labels them "complainers" "bashers"
actually the MSM DISMISSES them as complainers, bashers, etc. Always notice the wording in AP articles then the rest of the echo chamber echos and embellishes. It can be very subtle, so much so that Dems here either think our leaders are 'not saying anything' or always 'saying the wrong thing'. The medium truly is the messsage now. And it is never good for us. Fascism is here.

I was very disappointed that he campaigned actively for BCo. Real courage would have been displayed if he had actively backed Kerry when it really counted...BEFORE the election. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

you are right to say that McCain is no better than any other republican sleeze.. but when any of them step against their own, or not walk the party line to actually say the truth it should deserve a little respect.. i am not saying you have to be McCains biggest fan, It only takes a few people to start a revolt in a party and things like this brings it one tiny tiny step closer, and we should echo his words of ill upon his own party instead of insulting him (in this case at least)

78. McCain for Cabinet or President?
McCain is a tough cookie to crack. At the same time, I, like you lost a lot of respect for him after 2004. It seems like he wants to run in 2008. If that's the case, then he needed to support Bush this time around. However, he doesn't want to alienate his base: moderate conservatives so he continues to criticize his extreme policies.
I thought he would be given a cabinet position in a second Bush term... and Homeland Security is still open... there is a small chance...

If not, he'll probably run in 2008. Otherwise his 2004 efforts would be pointless--and that would be very un-politician-like.

Also, don't rule out Rumsfeld stepping down mid-term and McCain replacing him. (So that it doesn't look quid pro quo - campaigning for a cabinet position)

105. McLame.
Nuff said about him.

Rumsfailed is a War Criminal. Now that he has blatantly lied to the troops to their faces some Rethugs are speaking out. It is amazing that the troops didn't boo this Criminal. Not supplying armor is a betrayal to the troops and Criminal Negligence. Rumsfailed should not only be fired but brought up on criminal charges.

Rumsfailed Admitted to Violating Geneva Convention

Rumsfailed admitted in public on TV that when CIA Director Tenet requested that an Iraqi prisoner be sent to a secret Afghan/US Prison that Rumsfailed did so. After four months a DOD Attorney stated that this was an illegal act. Rumsfailed then ordered that this prisoner be sent back to Abu Graihib but the prisoner was purposefully not listed at that location, also an illegal act. Rumsfeld also admitted to signing orders for tougher interogation methods which violated the Geneva Conventions.

Rumfailed has commited at least three violations of the Geneva Convention thereby also violations of The Constitution of the USA. Recently it has been found out that even more detainees were "ghost detainees". The fact that Rumsfailed and Tenet have not been charged speaks volumes. If Congress wishes to garner any respect they should move forward with Rep. Rangle's Impeachment Declaration of Rumsfailed and also proscecute Ex. CIA Tenet.

=========================
Q: Senator Jack Reed (Dem, RI): "If you were shown
a video of a United States Marine or an American
citizen in control of a foreign power, in a cell block,
naked with a bag over their head, squatting with their
arms uplifted for 45 minutes, would you describe that
as a good interrogation technique or a violation of
the Geneva Convention?"

A: Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the vice chairman of the
Joint Chiefs of Staff: "I would describe it as a violation."

A: Paul D. Wolfowitz, the deputy secretary of defense: "What
you've described to me sounds to me like a violation of the
Geneva Convention."

Rumsfeld is in it for the power and the money. Vanity is also a big Rumsfeld motivator.

McCain is in it to reverse the verdict of Vietnam. He said a few months ago that Iraq is nothing like Vietnam. Superficially, appearances are different, but the political dynamics of the guerilla conflict and the corrupt political system we have here which profits from the war industry are quite similar. The fact that McCain is blind to this because of his personal agenda MAKES HIM THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN THAT COULD EVER OCCUPY THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OR SECRETARY OF DEFENSE.

That whore McCain will say anything about anyone if he thinks it will help him politically.

135. I have said this so many times. I just don't get John McCain
He has been more critical of this horrific Bush* administration than most of the Democrats, and with good reason, after the "dirty tricks" they used against him in South Carolina in 2000. But he still insists that he supports Bush*. And I've seen his blatant criticism of Rumsfeld, also with excellent reason, and he knows more about serving in wartime than many others in the Senate, and, certainly, more than those in the Bush* administration, so his opinion means something.

I just don't understand why he remains loyal to an administration who he has no faith in and who opposes everything he supports. I'd like to believe he voted for Kerry, a friend and a fellow Vietnam vet, but he campaigned for Bush*!
