Green Bay officers hope practice stops ID theft
By Mikaela Reck
metro@greenbaypressgazette.com

If you think you have to be a suspect in a burglary or murder to have your fingerprints taken … think again. Now in Green Bay, driving a little fast or playing your music too loudly will also qualify you.

Since Dec. 30, Green Bay police have been fingerprinting traffic and ordinance violators, so that even the homeowner who lets his dog run loose one too many times could get his fingerprints put on file.

The practice is voluntary, according to Green Bay police. The purpose, they say, is to reduce the number of identity thefts. Too many people busted for minor offenses have been giving false names, and fingerprinting can help prevent the innocent from being held accountable for someone else’s misdeeds.

“We are doing this to protect your identity,” said Capt. Greg Urban, public information officer for the Green Bay Police Department. The practice isn’t winning fans among those in the business of safeguarding privacy issues.

<snip>

Okay, this scares the shit out of me. What the hell is happening to my country? (and my state)

15. No problem
:hi:

I know it's a lot of reading, but you must do it and then inform others. See post #65 from that link.

#65 From Eloriel: LEO STRAUSS AND THE NEO-CONS. This will give you the background for the PNAC cabal and their inspiration.

Did you ever see "Creature from the Black Lagoon" with 3-D glasses - very cool!

More importantly, my mother is an artist, like her mother and grandmother. Actually, all the women in my immediate family are artists... I, on the other hand, just vandalize AP photos. :D

4. Wow! I live outside of Green Bay!
I'm already not in that great of a mood when I get pulled over for a traffic violation, so you can bet your boots, I will not be VOLUNTARILY complying to fingerprints. You gotta be kidding me!

I feel sorry for the policeman for having to comply with this. I'm sure they're getting a lot of angry responses!

Btw, knock on wood, no speeding tickets for 5 years. Yahoo!

12. I was going to say "They must think we're pretty stupid", but....
..that *DOES* refer to 51% of the voters in this country...

“We are doing this to protect your identity,” said Capt. Greg Urban....

Oh, FUCK you, Kapitan Urban. You're doing it to build up a HUGE fucking database. Just think, used to be you had on file the fingerprints of only those who had firearms permits, were Bonded, and people who've been arrested. NOW, with your bogus "protect you" line of bullshit, you're getting prints from thousands of Sheeple that you never would have EVER gotten otherwise!

Voluntary? I'll betcha they'd get pissed enough at the "tone" of my declination to hit me with their fancy Bernie Kerik-model Cattle Prod...

Fucking Pigs...

"Resistance is FUTILE, PERPS!"

14. Except that this gives them all 10 fingers
I can't see how this is any different than mandatory finger"imaging" for drivers' licenses.

I need to go for my new license soon, but I'm putting it off because I see no reason why they should have my thumb "images". My state rep told me it was to protect me and to make drivers' licenses more secure and prevent fake licenses. Umm, unless everyone, everywhere has a device to make sure the images on the licenses match, I don't see how this makes licenses any more secure.

22. Most states apparently
OK was the state congress person. But I just moved to TX and apparently it's been the law here for 10 years or so.

I hate it, hate it, hate it. I explored ideas of using glue or something on my fingers to mess up the sensors, but then I'd just be in trouble when it came time to renew my license.
