Walmart Greeter fired for semi nude photo...
Uh boy. Both very funny, and a perfect example of Red staters who don't seem to have a sense of humor...

2. Can't say I disagree with this
Edited on Sat Jan-08-05 03:06 AM by Charlie Brown
He was using his role as a greeter to criticize his employers. The supervisor asked him to stop. It's therefore his own fault he was fired. If he wanted to criticize Wal-Mart, he should have done it when he was off the clock.

15. Nothing funny about embarrassing your employer
and doing it after being told not to do so.

He deserved to be fired, repeated unacceptable behavior and, unsurprisingly, was fired for it.

5. I agree with the firing...
...although I hate walmart and never shop there. That sounds like a pretty creepy thing to do, IMHO.

7. Some of the article:
MUSCATINE, Iowa - A Wal-Mart greeter was sacked for apparently showing too much of his friendly side to customers.

Dean L. Wooten, 65, was accused of greeting customers with a computer-generated photo of himself in which he appeared to be naked — except for a carefully placed Wal-Mart bag — and of telling customers that Wal-Mart was cutting costs and the sack was the company's new uniform.

A supervisor at the Muscatine store where Wooten had worked for seven years told him to knock it off after customers complained. He was fired five days later, in September, after he displayed the photo again.

Wooten's application for unemployment compensation was rejected by an administrative law judge, who said "a reasonable person would know the act of showing a naked body wearing a Wal-Mart sack would not be good for the employer's business."

***

I can't help smiling.

MaineDem - proud of the fact that it's been over 6 years since she visited a WalMart

8. So dude get's warned.... and a week later starts showing the pic,
again... sounds like he was rather asking for the final action.

The pic, if it is the one someone embedded upthread, is pretty funny. Too bad he didn't reserve his humour to friends and family rather than shoppers.

11. Ain't no such thing as semi nude. You're either nude or not.
Same with semi-pregnant, or semi-dead.

If Wal-Mart thinks their bags are too ugly to be worn, seems to me they could get purtier ones, no?

As far as stupid employers having no sense of humor, what's new? My dad always said that you could spot any boss anywhere by their tie. As soon as they pull it up around their neck, it cuts off the oxygen to their brain, and BINGO! They're now management!

Certainly wouldn't want to offend the sensibilities of the haute-shoppers at Wally World, now would we?

Dumb headline. Dumb bosses. Dumb result.

12. Three reasons for the dude to get a job at Costco
1) They pay a living wage, so he can actually buy clothes

2) They have affordable health insurance

3) Costco could cry all the way to the bank with the dude's picture.
