WP: CIA Director Cuts Meetings On Terrorism

The daily 5 o'clock meeting at CIA headquarters that for the past three years has coordinated tactical counterterrorism operations involving senior CIA, FBI, Pentagon and Homeland Security Department officials has been cut back by new CIA Director Porter J. Goss to three a week, according to current and former administration and intelligence officials.

The sessions were initiated by former CIA director George J. Tenet because of the failures of coordination among intelligence agencies before Sept. 11, 2001. He used the sessions to push the agencies to carry out specific activities, whether at home or abroad. The meetings were continued by Tenet's former deputy, John E. McLaughlin, while he was acting director and initially by Goss.

Recently, however, Goss, a former House member and onetime CIA case officer, created "a different format," according to an administration official familiar with the program. Goss instead chairs a somewhat similar meeting with a smaller group of senior officials from the agencies, who brief him three mornings a week, the official said.

"They are still very much focused on terrorist issues," the official said. "If something exploded, would get briefed right away."

If you want to let something happen on purpose, you have make sure you aren't trying too hard to prevent it.

I thought the whole idea was that they were supposed to get briefed BEFORE stuff exploded, so it DIDN'T explode. Am I missing something?

The African-American community in the United States was shocked by the news disseminated by Webb's articles.

His role in disclosing the CIA's sinister plot made Webb a very famous figure in the black community.

When the House of Representatives finally agreed to take up the issue, after a report was issued by the CIA inspector general concerning drug trafficking by the agency, Porter Goss, who had directed the Intelligence Committee since the previous year, decided at a preliminary hearing that the allegations were "false."

Goss, a former CIA agent who in 1972 participated in operations at the JM/WAVE base in Miami, including terrorist operations against Cuba, ended up being named director of the CIA by George W. Bush.

Why are "we the people" letting all the criminals run amok, again? Jesus Christ, I have a comic book from this era in time detailing them all. Did we all forget? Is it okay now, they served time for their crimes? As in treason? I'm lost and confused. We have all lost our collective minds.
