North Korea says it's ready to return to six-party talks on its nuclear program
SANG-HUN CHOE, Associated Press Writer

Friday, January 14, 2005

(01-14) 03:22 PST SEOUL, South Korea (AP) --

North Korea on Friday told a visiting U.S. congressional delegation that it would not only return to six-party nuclear talks but also treat the United States as a "friend" if Washington doesn't slander the rule of totalitarian leader Kim Jong Il.

The unexpected overture came shortly after a bipartisan congressional delegation concluded talks with senior communist officials in Pyongyang. The U.S. leaders called the trip an "overwhelming success" and said in Seoul that North Korea appeared ready to negotiate within weeks.
(snip)

The North's official news agency said the communist state told American lawmakers it "would not stand against the U.S. but respect and treat it as a friend" unless the United States "slanders" the North or "interferes" in its internal affairs, KCNA said.

The United States, North and South Korea, China, Japan and Russia have struggled to arrange a new round of talks aimed at persuading the North to abandon its nuclear weapons programs. The three prior rounds, hosted by China since 2003, made no breakthroughs. The last round was held in June.

3. Look at it this way
North Korea dont fear the US. They got 2 big brothers China and Russia. And this 2 countries is in a pact with India and Brazil. Now see how many nukes they have all together.

To us in Asia North Korea having nuke is because of the US. We know who the dangerous country is.

4. North Korea is insane
That's pretty dangerous in my book. If Asia wants to be responsible for them, so be it.

Personally, I don't want anything to do with such a repressive regime.

5. Yes it got a lot of problems
But the way to solve it is by peaceful means not threat. The whole thing is escalated by US. Every country wants a better future.China will keep North Korea in check.

rogue outfits for money, since the regressive regime has basically Zero for an economy...

I agree public "threats" are ineffectual, but there must be a stick to go along with the carrot. Even Clinton and Carter would agree with this...

9. So let me get this straight
the North Koreans are benevolent and the Chinese are for ever lasting peace, and we all know how wonderful the Russians have been in the last 100 years.

It is only the horrible US that spilled a lot of blood to oust Japan from Malaya and other area in SE Asia that are the bad guys. Is that the story?

Perhaps Japan succeeding in WW2 would have been more to your liking.

But then again according to your recent leader it is all the fault of Jews and the horrid United states.

Next time you need international help, do us a favor call on the North Korea n's et al and see how much help you get.:puke: :wtf:

14. Need International help
Hey we can take care of ourself. As for kicking out Jap from Malaya it was the British and the Commonwealth troops doing the fighting and the dying.

As to US stand if one want to talk on it. I dont see US moving in to help until Britain was the last European nation standing. It need Pearl Harbour really to make a different.

Now this are all History and facts so please dont turn them upside down to make a point.

Other than World War11. This region does not see major conflict other than the Vietnam War and the Korean War. Please look at your history book. Oh yes I forget Tibet.

Right now history will be written on Afgan and Iraq, I wonder what the words and facts be like in the future when they start writting it. So feel proud if you want for the once mighty USA. There is right and there is wrong. And one need to be able to distinguish that.

Finally we are all people. And there always be goverment. And when people does not watch the goverment. Shit happen like Hilter. The people get turn into soldiers and they fight each other and die. The people voice become drown out and darkness descent whenever a repress regime takes control. This can happen anywhere anytime even in the US. SO WAKE UP.

10. Actually Kerry said we should hold both 2-party and 6-party talks
but bush* said 2-party talks would fuck things up. Well read this snip from the article again;

The unexpected overture came shortly after a bipartisan congressional delegation concluded talks with senior communist officials in Pyongyang. The U.S. leaders called the trip an "overwhelming success" and said in Seoul that North Korea appeared ready to negotiate within weeks.

Well GOLLEE GEE! That sounds an awful lot like a TWO-PARTY talk worked wonders!! Who was there? A US delegation and Communist officials of NK. One, Two, Thr... Nope ONLY TWO!

That means bush* was WRONG AGAIN!! I hope you're not surprised.

16. Note to all thuggish tin-pot dictators (axis of evils) throughout the world

If you just think about owning nuclear weapons like Saddam did you will get a dose of Shock and Awe and receive the same fate as him. (Got your spiderhole ready?)

Now on the other hand, if you actually own nuclear weapons you can tell the USA and the UN to blow it out of their asses and only good things will come your way.

North Korea denies having uranium project, says Washington has double standard

SEOUL, South Korea A day after offering an olive branch of sorts North Korea has directed a barb at the United States, calling it a "nuclear criminal."

The state-run newspaper accused Washington of applying double standards by " conniving at, patronizing and cooperating with the pro-American forces" in Israel, Japan and South Korea to develop nuclear arms. Pyongyang also rejected a U-S claim that it has a secret uranium-enrichment program.
