D.C. Hotel-Union Talks Move Forward
The Associated Press
Friday, January 14, 2005; 4:41 PM

Talks resumed Friday between the top hotels in the nation's capital and the union representing workers, with a Saturday strike deadline and the arrival of inauguration crowds looming.

Both the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. and Unite Here Local 25 were hopeful of an agreement before Saturday, when tens of thousands of guests were expected for next week's inauguration. The union, which represents 3,500 hotel maids, servers, cooks and bellhops, has been threatening to strike since October.

Talks broke down Wednesday, with both sides far apart on wages and benefits. The union is seeking a 10 percent increase in each of the next three years, while the hotels are offering a little over 4 percent.

friends stuck with dirty sheets, unshined shoes, and having to open their own doors.....

better yet...EVERYBODY in DC has the FLU....and some of bush* rich friends are certain to get it....it's really the poor people of America who clean the toilets and cook the food, and all those people have NO HEALTH insurance...so the BIG PAYBACK this year...those bush* policies of delivering no flu vaccine and 48 Million UN-insured Americans...this will BLOWBACK onto the rich bushites in the FLU.....

2. Wow! No place for the right-wing talk radio shock jocks to sleep?

Perhaps they can all have a sleep over at the Bush WH.

>Rush can raid Pickles' prescription drug stash.
>Ann Coulter can give into her lesbian fantasies with the Bush daughters.
>Bill O'Reilly can ogle them getting it on.
>Sean Hannity can feign fake disgust at the whole matter.
