Iraqis in Australia prepare to vote (1.5 Mil Absentee ballots?)
AUSTRALIA'S 80,000-strong Iraqi population began registering today to vote in their country's January 30 elections.

Although registration is only available in New South Wales and Victoria, organisers expect up to 50,000 Iraqis to register, with 90 per cent of those expected to place votes in the country's first democratic ballot.

Iraqis living in other Australian states - and the 26 Iraqis in Australian detention centres - would need to travel to registration booths in either Sydney or Melbourne to be eligible to vote.

Three detainees in Victoria had registered so far, said Bernie Hogan, the Iraq Out-Of-Country Voting program director in Australia.

Up to 1.5 million Iraqis away from their homeland are expected to vote, making it one of the largest out-of-country polls on record.

That's why Shrub's going on with the election, the majority of the voters don't even live there.

1. They should be forced to return to Iraq immediately
if they're going to legitimate this unholy war by participating in this faux "election."

2. well this is great
secret candidates being elected in a country where voting seems to hold a serious risk of death, so the majority of voters will be outside of the country. another one for the shrub.

5. The Only Iraqis That Get To Vote Will Be Expatriates
and their votes will be gently laundered by their host countries. What a farce.
