Mark Thatcher is 'home with mommy' - reports
IOL

January 18 2005 at 07:10AM

London - Mark Thatcher, who pleaded guilty in South Africa to charges linking him to a coup plot in Equatorial Guinea, was on Monday at his mother Margaret Thatcher's home in London, a report said.

Thatcher, 51, arrived in the English capital by the Eurostar train on Sunday and went to the home of the former British prime minister, the domestic Press Association (PA) newswire said.

The agency did not name its source, but it maintains close links with the Thatcher family and usually carries statements released by Baroness Thatcher.

Mark Thatcher was due to get his American visa renewed before flying on to the United States to rejoin his family, PA officials said - four days after being fined R3-million and given a four-year suspended sentence in connection with the alleged plot.

4. Funny, isn't it?
John Lennon was barred from the US at one time because he'd smoked
dope, but Thatcher's illegal arms dealing is unimportant.

5. It was a seminal contribution to the Bush family peace process
and will doubtlessly win Riggs Bank subsidiary CEO Jonathan Bush the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize...

3. Thatcher stuck in London awaiting visa to join family: Times
By Andrew Pierce

SIR MARK THATCHER has slipped secretly into Britain to obtain a visa for the United States in an effort to be reunited with his wife and children.

.....

Immigration lawyers have told Sir Mark that it could take between four and six weeks to process the application.

Sir Mark, who was advised that his best hope lay in a face-to-face meeting with officials at the US Embassy in London, was frustrated yesterday because the building in Grosvenor Square was shut because of the American national holiday in honour of Martin Luther King.

The United States Immigration and Naturalisation Service may refuse his request to enter the US after his conviction last week in a court in Cape Town for breaching South Africa’s anti-mercenary laws.

AND with no US ambassador in London since William Stamps Farish III was unceremoniously booted out last July, who can Mommy slip another £275,000 backhander to to get Marky out of this one?

6. a report the other day said that there may be people out to get him
I took that as there may be attempts to assassinate him. Do we really need this crap here. Thatcher should not be allowed to immigrate to Texas. he is a terrorist by *'s loosest definition. he needs to stay on his own side of the pond.

7. But Mummy! You got to be an oppressive war-monger!
There, there, Marky. Yes, Mumsy did a lot of naughty things, but the world has changed and moved on. Kicking the snot out of those brown lads under color of law just isn't fashionable anymore.
