Senator proposes Missouri tax on adult entertainment

KELLY WIESE

Associated Press

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - First, Missouri banished sexy billboards and young strip dancers. Now, a state senator wants to force adult entertainment businesses out of the Show-Me State by stripping them of their profits.

Legislation pending in the Senate would impose a 20 percent tax on revenues of all "sexually oriented businesses," charge a $5 fee for each person entering their doors and prohibit them from staying open late at night.

"The goal of the bill is to make Missouri inhospitable for these businesses," said Republican Sen. Matt Bartle, of Lee's Summit.

Oh fer Pete's sake. I just knew we'd get an onslaught of bills like this when the Repugnantcans won both state houses and the governorship.

It just seems like a bad idea because with limited hours of operation the conservatives will be more likely to run into each other when they stop by to rent "Bodacious Tatas" and other masterpieces of videotape.

:puke:

messing with porno could be the death Knell for a politician..

all those Baby Boomer's with wives in menopause, and the wives who want porno for the husbands so they leave them alone.. there could be a serious backlash

and just what are they going to do with the "Tainted" money.. isn't that like dropping your quarter in the booth... who is going to pick it up ???

Just accross the rivers from KC Missouri to KC Kansas, and from St.L into East St. Louis in Illinois.
