Ashcroft: Justice Department probe will be adequate
http://www.arkansasnbc.com/Global/story.asp?S=1463653

Washington-AP -- Attorney General John Ashcroft insists a Justice Department probe of the White House will be thorough.

It's aimed at finding out who revealed the name of a C-I-A operative. Her cover was blown after her husband, a former U- S ambassador in Africa, questioned the Bush administration's claim that Iraq tried to buy uranium there.

<snip>

Since it's a criminal matter, Ashcroft is giving few details. He also refused to answer any questions -- such as why he didn't name an independent counsel.

(very short newsblurb)

4. This from a man who can't handle breasts on a statue
Name one thing this man has done to inspire confidence that he will "take care of it". Let's hope the Dem leaders remember the stupid Whitewater mess and demand the Independent Counsel as the only possible course here. Bush Administration arrogance is truly amazing!

5. He couldn't find one eensy weensy tidbit on the put options....
this is equally wrong....
they're going to quiet this down...
put it on hold for a year...
and announce that there is nothing there
in the meantime, the right wing congress will probably get that law disclosure law changed to cinch the deal.

Put options. Nothing. Disclosure. Nothing, nothing there.

7. Yes, the Justice Department will be adequate...
adequate in trying to bury the whole deal.

Fat chance of that happening now. This story is reverberating around the globe, as we speak. They are discussing it over breakfast in China. In India, they shake their heads, tsk tsk and say 'bad, bad Karma'. In Sweden, they are politely listening to the news as they get up in the morning, and shake their heads.

In Borneo, the jungle drums are beating feverishly, 'Karl is the Kulprit, so is his buddy Dick the Nitwit'.

10. Don't even waste our money on a pretend investigation by Asscroft
Go straight to an independent investigator....one with NO TIES to either this administration or Congress. And then...investigation of White House ties to 9-11.

12. Clinton caused the jonestown massacre too
It goes without saying that the Repug's blame Clinton for everthing since the Lincoln Assasination lol. They have this Clinton addiction, it's not healthy. Anyway, does anybody think Herr Ashcroft can be impartial? with his ties to pig boy Rove? It's like asking Trent Lott to look into ways to increase fundraising for the NAACP! It's not gonna happen.

Lost In Translation
Edmonds says that the supervisor, in an effort to slow her down, went so far as to erase completed translations from her FBI computer after she'd left work for the day.
“The next day I would come to work, turn on my computer and the work would be gone. The translation would be gone,” she says. “Then I had to start all over again and retranslate the same document. And I went to my supervisor and he said, ‘Consider it a lesson and don't talk about it to anybody else and don't mention it.’”

Did The FBI Destroy Evidence?
The FBI and prosecutors ordered the destruction in 1999 of evidence from a bank robbery they once suspected linked Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh to white supremacists who were threatening before McVeigh's bombing to attack the government, documents show.
The evidence included a surveillance videotape of a bank robbery by some of the supremacists that occurred in Ohio five months before the bombing. The FBI lab compared the tape to pictures of McVeigh, but concluded a match was "inconclusive," internal memos show.
