TIRKIT, Iraq (Reuters) - At least three U.S. soldiers were wounded in a bomb attack on Wednesday close to the main American military base in Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit, a Reuters correspondent at the scene said.

The bomb exploded shortly before 5 p.m. as a patrol traveled along a road just outside the base, one of Saddam's former palaces, around 110 miles north of Baghdad.

Edit: CNN just said AP is reporting one US soldier was killed in or near Tikrit.

This Plame affair coupled with the daily killings and wounded in Iraq might actually be the downfall of BUSH. I have yet to see cable news and talk radio say anything bad about him yet, I wonder how bad it has to get for that to happen?

12. Cowards sending soldiers to die.
Cowards hiding behind the flag and a raft of lies. I supported the war in Afghanistan, to destroy al qaeda. But not the Iraq Oil War. We didn't do the job right in Afghanistan, and needlessly invaded Iraq. If there is a hell, Bush will be there, with his cowardly, incompetent, and murdering cabal.
