Uninsured Nation - White House give us $87 billion! Newsweek.
If the 43.6 million Americans without health policies formed their own country, would the White House give us $87 billion?

I am one of the many Americans who have no health insurance; I haven’t had any for nearly three years now. I woke up this morning to learn that I am now part of a club whose membership has soared to 43.6 million. Before this, I felt terribly self-conscious about my situation. Now, the sheer numbers have emboldened me. We are a force to be reckoned with; we could surround the White House, clog traffic, raise our voices in unison and say…hmm, what should we say? How about something like, “Wouldn’t $87 billion be enough to set up a national health-care program? Shouldn’t $87 billion be spent on America instead of Iraq?”

WE COULD BE civil about it at first, and if that didn’t work, we could switch to, “We’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!”
It’s possible that President Bush just hasn’t had time to think about health insurance. After all, his job comes with full coverage. He even travels with his own personal physician. I’m not complaining about that-the leader of the free world shouldn’t be sniffling and coughing when he is in the midst of serious negotiations. I would, however, like to know where the White House physician was when the previous President Bush threw up in the lap of a Japanese dignitary. But I guess some ailments give no warnings. Anyway, George W. Bush is certainly entitled to have his doctor with him at all times, but shouldn’t the rest of us be entitled to some kind of medical safety net?

It's more possible pResident Bush doens't give a shit about you! Wake up!

1. Leave the US.
There are plenty of coutries that care about their citizens more. In Germany you have to be insured if you can't pay it the government does. There should be a minimal level of health care to which everyone has a right. It's a question of human dignity.

A principle --the respect for lately----

7. Gee thanks
Unfortunately, those Americans who are uninsured are also the least likely to be able to afford to immigrate.

2. Bush's Health Plan - Guranteed Death PLan
Hi Darker,

The Republicans do have a health plan for every American. Once you loose health coverage you are guranteed certain death as compassionate conservatism does not cover the uninsured. There is no profit in that.

Welcome to the "walking dead" club. You are very welcome and we will proudly celebrate your death whenever that may occur, most likely after a vist to a Bill Frist owned hospital.

4. The profitable death machine
...is in full stride now and has patriotic "bi partisan" support from a rump legislature.

5. Darker....
Don't feel embarassed. I don't have any either, now that I'm in my late fifties. I had it all my life. I don't know what you earn, but if you qualify, go get Medicaid. My perscriptions alone cost 600 s month. Now I pay nothing. I wish I had done it a year ago instead of being too proud and waiting until two months ago.

8. What's fascinating about this is the article's author: RAYGUN's daughter!
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:01 AM by calimary
It's Patti Davis, who is the writer, referring to her one-time SAG and AFTRA insurance that ran out, leaving her a citizen of the "Uninsured Nation."

I THINK THIS IS RONALD REAGAN'S DAUGHTER! Sure sounds like her, and she's since carved out quite an identity as a writer, now that she's not acting anymore.

WHOA! Hey, shrub! This gonna be YOUR girls someday?

Yes, or just about cover 30M of us uninsured for a year via insurance companies, or all 43.6 if we go the non-profit route, as Just Health Care or Dennis Kucinich's plans would do. Which do you think would be best?
