Kay No Longer Sure Trailers Were Labs

Filed at 6:37 p.m. ET

The CIA's man leading the hunt for suspected Iraqi weapons showed off a pair of trailers for news cameras this summer, and argued that the two metal flatbeds were designed for making biological weapons.

But faced with mounting challenges to that theory, David Kay is now conceding he could have been wrong and says he doesn't know whether Iraq ever had a mobile weapons program, as top Bush administration officials claim.

1. I suppose I should print this out & send to my stupid representative
She (Barbara Cubin R-WY) sent me a letter a few months back, confidentally sent me the news that these mobile labs had been found. The next day, our paper, the Casper Star-Tribune, published a story that said most people still said these were NOT mobile labs. So I sent her that article. She wrote back and said she still preferred her version. The next day, there was another article somewhere about the Brits having sold them, etc. So I printed that out and sent it to her. Nope, she still believed her version. I guess this will be another round. Do you think she'll still find someone other than Kay to believe? What an idiot.

...ago saying oh no, these trailers are not labs. They are actually factories used to manufacture chemical weapons. She even kept a straight face when she said it. Edit: Why in the hell is this woman still collecting a paycheck from the NYT? I don't get it?

6. It was obvious from the beginning that these were exactly
what the Iraqis claimed they were, hydrogen generating plants for artillery balloons. They were not suitable for bio-weapons research or manufacturing.
