Graham to Rethink White House Bid

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democrat Bob Graham, still pledging to the party faithful that he will be the next president, said Saturday he is rethinking his strategy for doing it.

``We are looking at strategies to be the next president of the United States of America,'' was his response to repeated questions outside a meeting of the Democratic National Committee whether he might end his campaign.

Graham told reporters he would decide in the next few days what course to pursue.

The Florida senator had a disappointing fund-raising quarter, which ended Tuesday, and senior staffers are leaving the campaign. Graham's goal was to raise $15 million-$20 million, but he's raised only about $5 million so far.

We really cannot afford to lose his Senate seat.

I like the guy but he needs to drop out (and not consider VP, or any Cabinet postition, until after November 2004).

He's a good man and has been with the democratic party for decades.

To be honest I don't think anyone of the 10, with the exception of maybe Sharpton (and even that would be extremely unlikely), in there right now would mount a third party/ independent run for the WH. They realize the stakes are way to high and they know how much Ralp has been hated ever since. They also realize how important it is to get rid of Dumbya in this next election.

Even Kucininich has said he will not run on some third party ticket if he will not get the nomination. This is admirable and I think everyone will support and endorse that democrat which is nominated (except I wonder about Lieberman, if Dean should be the nominee).

He came out early telling the truth about the Bush cabal. I will always respect him for that. In this strong field of candidates, he probably thinks it's better to get out and work on other priorities.

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if discussions to that effect have been going on.

We must keep him as our senator, I fear will will end up with another bad repug choice like Weldon or McCullom.

the nomination, but he helped bring to attention the national security problems this misadministration has created. This man is a true patriot and I sincerly hope he runs for reelection in the Senate.
